Bliss has been unitized

Krishna tells Arjuna in Bhagavad Gita about Bliss.

14.27: I am the abode of Brahman, immortal and imperishable, and eternal dharma and absolute bliss.

According to Brhad-aranyaka Upanishad 4.3.33, Bliss has been unitized. He, who is healthy, wealthy, lordly, and opulent, enjoys one unit of the highest bliss of man. From a previous to the succeeding stage, the bliss is greater by 100 times.

The multiplier effect is listed below:

Table:

Highest human bliss is (one).

1 Unit of Bliss

Man* who won over his world

100 Units of Bliss

Ghandharava’s Bliss,1 Unit = BlissX1X100X100

10,000 = ten K

God’s bliss by action = BlissX1X100X100X100 =1,000,000

1 million

God’s bliss by birth = BlissX1X100X100X100X100 =100,000,000

100million

Prajapati’s bliss = BlissX1X100X100X100X100X100 =10,000,000,000

10 billion

Hiranyagarbha’s bliss = BlissX1X100X100X100X100X100X100(Also Brahma’s bliss Br UP 4.3.33)

1,000,000,000,000 =

1 Trillion

Brahman's Blissincalculable

Taittiriya Upanishad (2.8.1) talks about bliss in the following manner. Youth with erudite knowledge of the Vedas, perfect in action, firm in mind, and sturdy in body enjoys one unit of human bliss. Human fairy enjoys one hundred times the human bliss. Divine fairy enjoys one hundred times the bliss of human fairy. Father enjoys one hundred times the bliss of divine fairy. One hundred times the father’s bliss is god’s bliss (by birth). One hundred times the bliss of god by birth is the bliss of god earned by meritorious work Indra’s bliss is one hundred times the bliss of gods. Brhaspati’s bliss is one hundred times Indra’s bliss. Prajapati enjoys one hundred times Indra’s bliss. Bliss of Brahma is one hundred times Prajapati’s bliss. Brahman’s bliss is beyond calculation.

Man* who won over his world is the one who practiced sacrifices, charity and austerity. Br. Upanishad 6.2.16

Yagyavalkya and his Material / Spiritual Wives

Yagyavalkya had two wives- Maitreyi and Katyayani. Amongst them Maitreyi had realized the divine cosmic spirit while Katyayani was a woman with ordinary intellect. When Yagyavalkya decided to renounce the world, he decided to divide the property between his two wives. On this Katyayani did not say anything as she was desirous only of physical or material pleasures. Maitreyi commented- "If this entire earth filled with wealth and riches becomes mine, Shall I become immortal?" Listening to this Yagyavalkya replied- "One cannot expect to attain immortality by wealth. But one can enjoy all the physical pleasures like a desirous person." Maitreyi became all the more curious, she asked- "What shall I do by taking that which cannot make me immortal? Tell me something by which I will become immortal?"

"In reality this is the real form of detachment and judgement. He who does not see the birth of these aforesaid things within himself cannot realize God", seeing the curiosity of Maitreyi, Yagyavalkya gave her the sermon of the Divine cosmic spirit. He told her that the soul and the cosmic spirit are in reality one and self-realization is a way to realize this entire world. It is defeat to see anything or realize anything other than the soul. All humans take birth from that cosmic soul and that all creatures devoid of the realization of that soul reside in final dissolution and the ignorance. In this way everything is pervaded by the divine cosmic soul. For that person everything is devoid of the doer, the act and the effect. It is not easy to realize the element of the divine soul as that divine cosmic soul is omniscient.

Upanishads also known as Brahmavidya

The Glory of God

1. Look around you, and see God's glory in all that lives and moves.
2. Enjoy the glory of God by wanting nothing for yourself.
3. Regard nothing as belonging to you; and envy nothing that belongs to others.
4. When you know in your heart that all things belong to God, then all things will bring you pleasure.
5. If you possess nothing, then you will become an instrument of God. Your work will be his work. And as an instrument of God, you will be perfectly free.
6. God himself never moves; yet he is swifter than thought.
7. God is stationary; yet the senses can never perceive him.
8. God is beyond the mind and the senses.
9. God stands still; yet he overtakes even the fastest athlete.
10. God is like a calm lake, and also like a stream flowing down a mountain.
11. God travels, and yet he does not travel.
12. He is far away, and yet he is near.
13. He is within all beings, and yet he is outside all beings.
14. Those who find God within themselves, and find God in others, lose all fear.
15. Those who are at one with all beings, and discern the unity of all beings, lose all sorrow.
16. God is light, and all comes from him.
17. God has no body(Spiritual Body), and so cannot be hurt.
18. He is pure, and so cannot be tainted by evil.
19. He is both immanent and transcendent;
20. he is below and above; he is everywhere.

Isa Upanishad

The process of dying

A heavily laden cart creaks as it moves along the road; in the same way the body groans under the burden of life as death approaches. When the body grows weak through old age or illness, the soul loosens itself from the body, as a mango or a fig loosens itself from its stalk; and thus it prepares to begin another life.
The soul gathers the powers of life to itself, and descends with them into the heart.
As life leaves the
1. Eye, and returns to its source within the soul, the eye no longer sees.
2. Nose, and returns to its source within the soul, the nose no longer smells.
3. Tongue, and returns to its source within the soul, the tongue no longer tastes.
4. Mouth, and returns to its source within the soul, the mouth no longer speaks.
5. Ear, and returns to its source within the soul, the ear no longer hears.
6. Mind, and returns to its source within the soul, the mind no longer thinks.
7. Skin, and returns to its source within the soul, the sense of touch is lost.
By the light of the heart the soul leaves the body; and as the soul leaves, the powers of life follow.Since the soul is consciousness, the body loses consciousness as the soul departs; and the soul carries the spiritual effects of all that the person has done, experienced and known.

A Quote with Translation

It is in the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad that a typically value-based story appears: 'What the Thunder Says'. Prajapati, the All-Father, having created the three races of gods, men and demons, appointed each to their own realm - heaven, earth and the netherworld. All three begged him for advice to live by. So, to each race, Prajapati gave counsel.

To the gods (sura), he said "Damyata". Be restrained. To mankind (nara), he said "Datta". Give. To the demons (asura), he said "Dayadhvam". Be merciful. And so, forever more, when the thunder peals DA-DA-DA, his children know that it is the voice of Prajapati, the All-Father, reminding them of the key to their true selves.
